I didn't always know I was going to make Tarot & Oracle decks though...
Before that, I was a freelance graphic designer who was tired of being overworked and underpaid. I felt like a pixel pusher who wasn't making a huge difference with my work. I wanted my work to have purpose, to impact the masses in positive and transformative ways, and for my work to pave my path for my freedom.
When you create a deck, it's not just a product. You're also creating a business.
I launched my first deck on Kickstarter which crowdfunded $25,990 in 2017. However, my self-publishing days took an unexpected turn when the majority of my Kickstarter stock was damaged, which then led me to cold email ONE publisher at their generic email, leading to a literary agent and a publishing deal. Since then, I have published three decks, having just submitted my fourth deck which will be released next year. The Mystic Mondays Tarot has netted 215,000 copies to date, meaning it has sold over $3 million in revenue since publication in 2018!
